The island has mail service that comes in from and goes out through Chile, via airplane. Chilean stamps can be obtained at the local post office.

There are telephones, fax, email, and even direct TV from Chile. The code for direct dialing is (56) for Chile; (32) for Easter Island, then the number 2 (the addition of the number 2 is a development effective August 5, 2006), and then the six numbers. There are only two exchange prefixes in use on the island at this time: 100 and 551. Thus, to call the island from the US you can direct dial: 011-56-32-2-100-XXX. The phone numbers of many of the local hotels and residenciales can be found in our section on Hotels.

There is even a place on the island where you can check your e-mail and/or send messages. It is located on Atamu Tekena, about a block down from the LANChile office, on the same side of the street. It is m@tariki.net They have computers, copy machines, nice ambience, music, etc.
